FAQ
Why has the City developed a Draft Local Environment Strategy?
Delivery of a Local Environment Strategy (Strategy) is developed in accordance with our Strategic Community Plan under Priority 2: Kalamunda Clean and Green – delivering environment sustainability and maintaining the integrity of the natural environment.
This Strategy will provide direction on the delivery of best practice environment stewardship in the City, articulating common environment values and priorities that will allow the City and Community to exhibit clear environment leadership. It will provide for an integrated and coordinated approach to the delivery of environment services.
The engagement process provides the opportunity to express views, identify issues and opportunities to manage environment impacts, activities and planned improvements, and to provide feedback on the draft plan.
Why do we need a Local Environment Strategy?
What does the Local Environment Strategy deliver?
Kalamunda Clean and Green provides the framework to manage environment pressures and achieve improved sustainable practices over the next decade. It will assist in protecting the cherished landscape character of Kalamunda and guide improvements in the City’s own operations and its work with stakeholders and community groups.
The Strategy will provide for quality environment policy and a clear direction for decision-making for good environment outcomes. It will assist the City with an integrated and coordinated approach for the delivery of environment services.
The Strategy:
· Addresses the most important local community environment values
· Commits to improving key environment outcomes
· Sets goals, timeframes and measures
The Strategy, through continual review and refinement, aims to be a living document, responsive to changing community values.
